What do you guys do with your batteries for your dive lights when you have only used half of your packs up? ( ie.. cannister lights) Do you discharge the pack with some sort of losd or since the battery is made using lion is it not needed?

Li-Ion battery backs decay by a few mechanisms. When stored 100% full, they do one thing to lose capacity. When stored drained, another. If you're going to store it a while, drop it to about 50-80% capacity and keep it around room temperature or a bit colder. As long as you have a smart charger, partial charges are ok.
