I am mounting a seoul star on a copper heatsink, Do I have to worry about any grounding/shorting out with the star? I am used to mounting the raw led with AA epoxy, but unsure if the star with an led still needs to be isolated.I will be using 5 mode driver from deal extream.

The star is already isolated, so your only worry should be related to the efficiency of the heatsinking. A copper heatsink under the star should be adequate as long as you don't push it too hard.

I have a thick copper piece fron when I made the $1.02 heatsink for my Nuai Q3 ,that works very well.I sanded down 2 pennies and monted in the thick copper, all soldered togeather its very good at taking away the heat! Plus its going in an electro lumens XM3 which is really thick walls,so I think It will remove the heat really well as I plan to drive this hard, the driver will take up to 4.5 V I will try with 2 energizer E2 see how that works and then if all is well I will run 3 2/3 AA NIMH,the driver on high is 1000ma,so it should be bright on high!

Thats my plan.

Thanks for the info, its what I thoughtmjust wanted to be sure.So many new changes I wanted to be sure I didnt miss anything!!
