Hello all!

I have a stock Rexlight 2.0 and am overall very satisfied with it. However, I'd like to do the upgrade to this little guy and found a thread where the Q5 WC tint is being sold as emitter only, emitter on round board, & emitter on star board.

Which board would be appropriate for an install on this light?

BTW, I have a high end Weller soldering station, so I'm good on that end.

Thanks!

My original Rexlight was on a mini round board. I bought my Q4 from Cutter on a round board. It was way to large and to thick. I ended up just grinding the diameter to size. Sanding the thickness on a flat surface. It was not noticeably brighter.
I hope you have better results.

The problem with the Rex 2.0 is not the emitter, but the circuit board. There is a drop-in upgrade coming soon from KD. Price is said to be about $15.

Hmm, a Q4 didn't do that much. Not sure I'd want to go through the hassle of dropping a Q5 in there for not a lot of gain. They're cheap enough. What to do, what to do...

While in the course of more browsing on this subject, I did find a post that says a 16mm round board with emitter from DX works, but the wires are a bit tight. I wonder how the emitter is secured on the board. Solder?

Thanks for the answers guys.
