Hi guys,

after hours spent by reading the post and my previous discussions (see OUTDOOR light post) I decided to buy Quark 2xAA flashlight

What I need is:

Outdoor and SHTF flashlight with long run times - now I need to choose between beam pattern and can't find any specific information for those two - I need long reach but with usable spill to light the road forward

Which one will be more use for hiking ? Will Turbo QB2A have enough spill ? The throw can't be too narrow, but has to have a good spill and reach, too

why do you need throw for hiking? All the hiking/camping Ive done Ive found a wide beam to be more useful. As for beam shots, youtube. Look up goingprepared, he has beam shots of all the quarks (or most of them).

to check critters/sound at night hikes which I do, and also it would be my urban shtf ( like secondary function, in capital city, so I need throw across the street)

This new naming thing is retarded get the AA^2 "X". It throws just as far as the original XP-G model and is way brighter and has tons of spill and is more efficient in the middle and low modes. The new XP-G2 models will throw a little farther and are more efficient but there still only going to be 250-260lm vs 400 at turn on with 280lm stable.

Right.. And so I decided to go with Quark QP2A Gen 2 - runtimes okay for hiking while I could possibly get some throw with Gen 2, which is also important to me (maybe more than lumens). Time will show if it was the right decision..
