if i have a stinger XT and add an HP head, will i have the same thing if i were to buy a stinger XT HP? with same runtimes and cp?

Yes, yes, and no.

The HP head basically turns it into an XT HP. HP models just feature new head/reflectors. The run time and total overall light output, or Lumens will remain the same. The light fill have better ability to focus into a tight, far reaching beam, and have a higher intensity spot, or candlepower. The HP claims 40,000, over the standard Stinger 15,000. The light won't be brighter, just more focused to where you will THINK it is brighter.

As an unimpressed buyer of the XT HP upgrade kit, I would suggest that you be prepared to be disappointed if you order it.

I bought one a few months ago. I am usually not as interested in cp ratings as I am in apparent brightness. After changing out the heads, I found NO apparent difference in brightness between the two versions.

The HP head does allow one to focus the beam pattern better than with a smaller head.

Other CPF members have echoed my sentiments, while still other members have remarked about how great the new HP head is.

Although I was not impressed with it, it only put me out about $30.00 for the upgrade plus s&h. If you have the $, and want to try it, I don't see why you shouldn't get it.
