I used my US in the rain last night. Everything is groovy.

I leave one US charging in the truck while I use the other. Works fine.

1) Would you trust using an US in the rain?

2) Would you leave the US on the charger while not in use, or would you prefer to just let the batteries drain and then recharge? (memory issue)

Yes, and yes. I wouldn't worry about the "memory".
I just leave mine on the charger when not in use,
and it is fine.

I did use US in the rain for a few times and haven't got any problem so far.

My US is still so new I wouldn't think of getting it wet for anything. I also made an interesting discovery. The tube is a snug fit in my jeans belt loop, and all but the head will fit in one of my front dress pants pockets.

Eh, i have a question too, if I need a brighter torch than the US, what would it be?

McCulloch HID x990

MaxaBeam

Can anyone remember how much was the carley reflector which they bought?

flashfan: The maxabeam is really a good idea if someone can shell out 90% of the cost while I pay the remaining 10%

It's tough to find a brighter rechargable than the US in its price range. It's a pretty solid light that's bright and made well.

Rechargeable spotlights would be much brighter, but also bulkier and some don't have as long a run time as the US unless powered by the 12V lighter plug.

Now a flamethrower... well... it might light some stuff up pretty well, but it'd be pretty hard to identify afterward from the charred remains.

The US does have a hotter hot spot, but it is also narrower. The 35X lamp is 20 watt Halogen Bulb/Relfector combo with a 100 hr life vs a SL-20XL, with a 10 watt Bulb/Lamp combo Halogen, 100 hr life, vs a US, with a 10 watt, Xenon bi-pin bulb only bulb.

Overall the SL-20X with the SL-35X lamp has the most power, and is not as heavy as a pure SL-35X.

The N62 & MN21 Lamps are about 20 Watts I believe.
The full beam of the 10X is at least 20W based on beams compared to N62 & MN21...

Anyone know how the UltraStinger compares to the SureFire Classic 9NT?

If I understand it corectly, SL-20X with SL-35X has more light output but UltraStinger has a brighter hot spot and throw further distance?

I only have a US and just wondering if I'm going to get another one, should I stick with the UltraStinger or go with SL-20X (35X lamp) for a change.

Ron,

I have a Streamlight SL-35x, a 35 bulb for my SL-20 and two Ultra Stingers. I carry the Ultra Stingers. Nuf said?

Larry

Ah yes. The down side. Once I accidentally knocked out two of a suspects front teeth with the SL-35. You see it just happened to be in my hand when I was reaching up for him and the light sort of bumped up against his face.

Honestly.

I'd rather not have to go through that again so I carry a smaller flashlight
