R50vn - Best 26650 Light

Help Support CPF:

I wanted to get out tonight , ended up not getting around to it:rolleyes: Hopefully soon will get the r50vn out other than around the house. Told Rach about it and what you guys did, she was also taken back and shone it around. Very impressed, then went on looking for the frogs near the pond with it..........within a minute or so Callum came running out with a torch shining it around:)

Quite surprising the throw on this, maybe 300ft+ away lighting up the trees over the road, 2 rows of houses and a cricket field away.

Now I have to get one. But you knew that was coming. Glad your enjoying bro. :)

Don't think I can wait any longer getting this, thinking of the spec 1 option for a little more throw but still good spill.
From recent review of this light there is mention that the step down figures are different to those quoted by Olight, can anyone clarify this please?

I can test turbo step down tonight.. I have stock r50 and r50vn.

Hi,
received my r50vn spec 1. today.
great light! Great job Olight and Great Job Vinh!

Does anyone know the OTF Lumen for "high"-mode for this light (as the mod mentioned above)

From my testing, you can get 50 minutes of turbo on r50 with the keeppower 5000mah.... I havent done one for r50vn..

Where was the step down at or was there step down at all? Olight claims 2 minutes on turbo then a massive step down to 800 lumens.

Couple of beam pics xhp50 SD(not best due to conditions and phone!)Trees about 150/160m away, to the eye nicely lit, phone not capable of picking up the light due to distance.

Lots of wide spill

Real nice useful beam, throws enough and plenty of bright spill to make a great all round light that is not too big for comfort.

Got my Spec 1 R50vn yesterday, charged it up and gave it a test run. Huge wall of light with nice throw too. High has loads of output and I can't see a need for Turbo except for short periods - heats up quick (82° outside tonight). Nice clean tint with no green and a perfect round spill beam. UI is very intuitive - low level is perfect for me, I don't moonlight on my walking lights. Thanks Vinh, just what I was hoping for :D.

Quick question: Has anyone pulled the battery and taken a reading when the red low battery light comes on?

Carried mine out today and I'm really liking this light. Even charged it in my car driving home. Turned the headlights off and used the r50vn beam which seemed just as bright.

Super cool liteboy I drive with my lights out the window heading into my cabins deep in the forest. Lights up the road and let's me see what's coming up much better. And there is never anyone on the road that makes it super fun

Awesome! Wish I had a cabin in the woods. But I'd be too scared and need lots of lights.....and guns. I think I'll just stay in the suburbs haha.

Ok so I can't make up my mind and need your help. Should I get r50vn with xhp70 4000k dome on or xhp50 5000k shaved dome. I know pretty different but having a hard time. It will be used mostly for walks or hiking in woods. Thanks guys

I would go 5000k shaved dome as it will probably be closer to 4500k anyway. Also it is worth the shaved dome for the throw as there is still plenty of bright spill, might as well benefit from the throw...(subjective) If you want more lumens in the spill and not important for extra throw ,the 4000k.

I would go with shared dome. I have some XHP70 lights, all with shaved dome. The color temp warms to 5000K and the visible cross pattern and donut hole, from the 4 emitter cluster, disappears.

Good call guys I will go with shaved dome xhp50 and if I like it enough maybe I'll get the xhp70 when Vinh gets some silver bezel models in [emoji41] thanks for the input!
