You are welcome. Can't wait to go home tomorrow - been away for 10 days now. This morning (it is 8:20 AM Wednesday the 25th as I type) I took a few photos of the 'chosen travel lights' from my hotel room balcony - left to right - Arc 6, Ti Quark MiNi123, Ra Clicky High CRI with Titanium bezel and sapphire lens, and Surefire T1A:

If you click on the photo, it'll take you to Picasa where you can see the image location. Got one of those cool new digicams with built in GPS... wanted to know EXACTLY where the photos were taken!

Here's another - of course, Istanbul in the background...

I've used the Ra and the Arc the most - love that super low setting and high CRI of the Ra!

:twothumbs

Great pics!

Dude that's awesome! Thanks for sharing the pics run4jc. I think we are going to pick up that new samsung camera that has a screen on the front for easy self portrait framing. :grin2:

I Received my R17670 Battery tube for my Clicky today so I thought that I'd share a photo in case anyone wanted to see the difference in size. It looks and feels like a winner. I'm just wondering how much longer the 2xAA tube is going to look.

That looks nice! 🙂

I see immediately that the choice to go for 17670 and not 18650 was the right one. With an 18650, the thinner part of the body would have been gone, making it completely straight, as the Twisty, this gives much better grip with a click switch!

I don't mind to "loose" 800mAh in capacity compared to the 18650, I see a gain of over 1.000 mAh compared to the RCR123 and what's more, Henry's lights are so efficient that the runtime can easily be compared to other lights with an 18650.

As for the 2xAA, just place a 123 cell on top of your 17670 and imagine it was part of the body. That looks long indeed and I wonder if it will be thinner than the 17670, too thin would look weird and not as rugged as we're used to with an HDS...

NICE TI CLIP!

I've been a member of CPF for a little over a year now, and my fascination with these fantastic tools hasn't subsided one bit. I still enjoy exploring new lights, but have mostly settled down with what I like and what I use.

This not a review of the Ra Clicky - more of a brief commentary. If you have read any of my posts or reviews, you know that I love McGizmos! The Haiku XP G and XR E are two of my favorites, although it is tough to pick favorites from Don's offerings.

I recently acquired a Spy 007 - it's been in the hands of one of CPFs 'favorite' members getting some slight mods - I hope that after I receive it back it will grab a regular spot in the rotation.

I love Milky's lights - he is an absolute wiz! datiLED does fantastic work. I love my Surefires -

But this is about the Clicky. If you are new to flashlight collecting, or a 'seasoned veteran', you just can't go wrong with Henry's lights! I carried my high CRI to Turkey/Bulgaria and it was incredibly useful. I took an early walk with my 170 this morning and marveled at the incredibly elegant simplicity of the controls, underlying sophistication to make it simple to the user, rock solid construction, and amazing utility. Some might be annoyed by the automatic reduction in brightness - I can barely notice it when it happens, but a simple press on the button brings it back if you need it (mine is a tactical.) But the idea behind the drop in power is brilliant if you ask me - you reduce heat and save the battery with very little reduction in perceived brightness.

The feel in my hand is perfect (I don't use the clip - love it without the clip). The beam throws forever and mine came with a neutral tint.

Yep - the HDS Ra Clicky is a HUGE bargain in the world of flashaholism! Set it up with titanium and sapphire and it still is around $250 - equip it with the lower priced accessories and it'll be under $200 - a real bargain - or just get an off the shelf 140 and you are under $150.

Just wanted to put my $.02 in - these are fantastic lights!

run4jc, I couldn't agree more with you. Ra clicky is simply one of the best light you can find out here in the market. I got a 140 GT and I must say I loved the simplicity of the UI. It seems complicated at first when I read the instructions that came with it, but I soon got a hold of it and it became second nature to operate the clicky. Very fantastic light I would say.

Although I own a lot of other lights, 34 pieces the last I counted, Ra clicky is the one that remains in my pocket ever since I got it from Henry. In fact I am contemplating ordering another high CRI version for my camping and trekking usage. Just saving up for it.

I too loved the fact that Henry had made it possible to prolong the lifespan of the LED and battery runtime by having it power down automatically. This means the light doesn't get too hot which would damage the LED, and it also dramatically increases the runtime of the battery. Like what you have observed, the reduction in power is almost unnoticeable.

Awesome light!

Does anyone know the cycle life of the tactile switch used for the clicky? Has anyone ever had a failure? It looks like the same kind of switch used in computer mice.

Quick question to all you Clicky Gurus. With the Tactical UI, are you able to not include strobe mode in your presets? For example, can you set the to M > H > L and disregard the strobe completely? Thanks!

Yes, you can program strobe right out of existence. There is no difference between tactical and normal versions except for the default program and either can be changed to do pretty much whatever you want.

Does anyone have a picture of the Ra Kydex holsters? What attachment method do they use?

I'm waiting on a reply from Henry, but in the mean time does anyone know why my Ra flattens a battery whilst switched off? seems to take 2 or 3 days to totally flatten either a primary or secondary battery.

There have been a few reports of advanced parasitic drain with the Clicky, myself included.

Email Henry, send your baby in and he will make it right.

Mine is good as new now.

Just curious, how old is your Clicky?
