This evening's project, hot off the lathe...

Ra Clicky / Ra Twisty HDS Conversion Bezel. 😎

Use your favorite HDS, NovaTac, or other compatible bezel on your Ra.

I created a new thread for this one as Nylon just happened to be what I chose to prototype with. This bezel could be made of any suitable material. I used Nylon just because I wanted to see what it would look like in Nylon. This is an altogether different animal than the Nylon bezel I made yesterday.

And yes, the bezel is longer so you do loose a little spill.

Exactly my thoughts.

Well, I fIIIIIIIIIIIInally have my own lathe now. All the things I've been wanting to do for years and years I can now really actually do. I am bursting with ideas and now I have a way to make them a reality. Lotta strands floatin' around old beaner's head.

Plus, I need to figure a way to pay for all the tools I just bought.

At this rate it'll turn into profit in 2 months! :twothumbs

Wow, that is pretty cool...

I don't haev a RA (yet) but that is quite an interesting design! What kind of materials can you work with?

In theory you could make one out of alloy and protect the end with the steel bezels. This would make the lights lighter (if less bomb proof).

Sheesh, I gotta get a lathe!

Can you make one out of 6/4 Ti, no crenulations?

I really like this version of the bezel.

I like it. Translucent material or lightweight metal would seem to be the ticket. :twothumbs

Pretty much, whatever you want assuming I can get it and cut it.

Presumably, assuming I can find 6/4 pipe. I don't want to have to drill out bar stock, that would take too long and dull my drills in a hurry, not to mention being a waste of expensive material.

The crenelations shown in the photos above is just a NovaTac bezel, the conversion bezel would ship without that. This bezel is for those who already own an HDS compatible bezel and want to use it on their Ra.

If you just want a decrenelated Ti bezel, I've got Ti Bezels on the way which I am planning on decrenelating and selling. They will probably be ready early next week.

Cool!!!!!! I would certainly buy a couple of these!!!!!!!

Nice, I would like to see one a little longer to be used as a candle / nightlight. Maybe a closed end no wait a closed removable threaded end. That way you could use it as a nightlight or twist off the end and use it more the way you have it. PM me if you need more info.

Hmmm... I hadn't thought of that, good idea.

Still, price will be pretty high, especially if we are talking 2 parts. As mentioned before these are manually machined, so it takes quite a while to do one. I'd have to sell these for at least $50.

Optic49,

I created an HDS compatible diffuser cap that fits on the end of the conversion bezel that I already made. It works quite well. Switch from flashlight mode to lamp mode. The only problem is that if you drop the light while the diffuser cap is off, it probably won't survive. But it's cool anyway.

I am a poor photographer, but I think you get the idea.

very cool 😱

I buy it by all means:thumbsup:

:wave:I WANT ONE.....I WANT ONE.....I WANT ONE!!!!

Did I mention I want one? Where do I send payment...?

This would be IDEAL for turning my twisty into a lantern when needed...How much light does it throw through the nylon if it's placed face down?

I'll be happy to make one for each of you who wants one, however let's wait first for me too finalize these designs and to speed up the process a bit.

I charge based on the time it takes me to make a part plus cost of materials. Cost of materials is not significant in this case as it is probably no more than $2, if that. I calculate cost in time to be $20 per hour, which I feel is a reasonable rate. Problem is, what if it takes me 3 hours to make one of these? Would you be willing to pay $60?

Face down puts out quite a bit of light, however face up will light up an entire room at night. It's like carrying a light bulb in your pocket. It's actually a lot more useful than I had originally imagined.
