I was roaming around Wal-mart (Canada) today and noticed that the price of Rayovac Hybrid AA and AAA cells recently went up 56% from $8.97 to $13.97 for a 4-pack of cells.

They are now only $4.00 cheaper than the Duraloops.

Is the same thing happening in the US?

Kinda sucks, as the Hybrids, Eneloops, and Duraloops seem to be the only LSD cells available up here in B&M stores.

Actually for a few months now I have NOT seen any RoV Hybrids at any of the 3 local WalMarts I frequent - at any of the usual display places -
and had wondered if WalMart had discontinued carrying them - they had plenty of other RoV batteries.

:( I once bought a Duraloop pack at $13.97 and it wasn't on sale... The week later they went up to $18!

That sounds like a :) rather than a :(.
I'm sure it was at the time, but not anymore.

It's too bad Costco doesn't sell 4-packs, since I need 5 more packs of the AAAs. I was going to get ROV Hybrids AAAs to fill that need, but figured I'd pace myself and pick some up over time. That delay will cost me an extra $25 + tax if I get them :(

LSD cellls are drying up at my local Walmart. Still plenty of crappy energizers though.

Target stocks the Duracell LSD, but they are pricy.

I think the price of everything is about to go up as older stock procured at lower cost is expended and the stores have to reorder at prices reflecting the astronomical price of a barrel of oil. I'll stop there to keep it calm.

I have seen the ROV hybrids but they have gone up about $3-$4 now. I am glad I got a bunch of them with $5 off coupons a year ago paying about $5 a pack for them.

Wow! a $5 increase in price overnight. I'm glad I'm stocked up now. I bought more than enough to last a long while. By the time they wear out, something new will be introduced. I quite like the Hybrids. Lots of oomph and they don't die in your cameras or lights when sitting unused for a while.

Maybe Rayovac is trying to recover their losses they likely incurred when they brought out their proprietary 15-minute cells and chargers which they later dropped.

I'm wondering if the earlier low prices were introductory prices for the product rollout, and now that they've been on the market for awhile, the prices are going up to reflect the true cost.
