has anyone used a BC-900 to analyze rayovac iC3 cells? i have a bunch of duracell 2650s and am in the proces of buying a BC-900 to avoid frying them further (have used the duracell 15m charger so far, but am reforming! :ohgeez:)

particularly...

1) Previously i have used my 40 or so iC3 cells many times over. Some of the iC3s have clearly died, but i wanted to be able to analyze them to see which ones might have some use left.

2) Can the BC-900 safely charge them? I've looked through the old threads and some questions were raised about the iC3 circuitry and the overheating issue with the lacrosse chargers. (i can always keep using the iC3 charger!!)

thanks to all!

can you use the analyze cycle to see how much capacity they have? i'm pretty sure some of the cells spent a lot of time in some unused children's toys and are in pretty good shape. (it sounds like you probably can't do this... thanks for the info though.)

After the discharge portion on the BC-900, it immediately begins a charge cycle, which because of the circuit in the IC-3 it will try to continually repeat. If you closely watch the cell, you can manage taking it out at the right time, but be very careful.

The IC-3 cells can only be used in the IC-3 charger. Any other charger will over charge them.

i guess my maha c9000 doesnt know that.
i still have a bunch of rayovac ic3 cells in use.
the c9000 terminates before the cells pressure switch trips.

Do you own any Rayovac I-C3 cells?

Yes, I do. When charged at the proper rates, the cells bounce around. They charge up, the cell terminates the charge usually (not the charger typically), which breaks the connection. The charger thinks the cell has been removed, so when the cell resets, the charger thinks a cell was reinserted and attempts to charge it again.
