What voltage should a freshly charged 3.0 volt RCR123 be? Mine is 3.96 volts hot off the charger, and 3.66 volts after sitting a day. I just blew up my 24/7 headlamp by taking someone elses advice here and running a 3.6 volt RCRC123 in it, so I am nervous to put anything other than 3.0 volts. Although a fresh Lithium primary cell does run about 3.5 volts. Advice?

I have run my 24/7 on an UltraFire 3.0v rechargeable 123A without trouble. The battery states that it would reach 3.6v fully charged and 2.0v when low. Inova never recommended anything other than alkaline batteries. But I have tried 3.0v R123As on almost all my one cell lights which recommended only alkaline batts, and they all worked OK. But I will not run any of them on R123As which are 3.6v as these will reach 4,2v when fully charged. They will most certainly blow. But even running the same lights on 3.0v R123As, and if the lights blown, their warranties would also be void for misuse. But so far the risk never caused any damage. Good luck.
