What sort of rechargable CR2's are available and will they work in the NiteCore EZ CR2?

I googled rechargeble cr2 and saw 3 volt li-ion, so somebody makes one or it was a labling mistake on that web page.

Kinda sorta. In the Li-Ion chemistry, 3.7v nominal (4.2v fully charged) is all there is.

Certain brands (such as Tenergy) sometimes sell Li-Ion cells that have a diode to buck the voltage, but in that size the capacity is even lower than regular CR2's, and I would be surprised if they were also protected.

LiFePO4 CR2's would be another option.

Actually, LiFePO4's are Lithium Ion's as well so, yes, it is as complicated as it seems. 🙂

The voltage reduced LiCO's (as Marduke metioned) and the LiFePO4's both actually have around 3.2-3.3 Volts under a normal load. I'm not sure how that would work out in the EZ, but it may have to be taken into consideration.

DX has some LiFePO4 CR-2's. They aren't sold as such, but that's what they are. I posted a couple graphs on their site of the cells discharging @ 300mA. At this current draw, they only come out to about 200mAh. I'm not sure these cells would hold up under an 800mA or so load, as I imagine the EZ CR-2 draws. Remember, these aren't A123 Systems LiFePO4's, and they may not be able to handle the strain.

Been looking myself; bought two a few years ago, with a Nano 3.0v charger, probably from Lighthound).

Kaidomain and DX have RCR2 3.0v cells, I think.
