Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

#6 for me Mike, mystery LED or cool white, standard grip.

PP inbound.

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

Mike never told us, which LED that is...😳
If you have enough, i would also like to have a SF III with mystery LED!!! :tired: lovecpf

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

Since no one can guess the LED in the picture, I will let the cat out the bag and post more info within the next 2 hours.

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

Can we get some runtime ideas for the different configurations/batteries/levels?

is the mystery LED 30% brighter at all levels than the MC-E?

When is the cutoff for the 50 people before the price is raised another $30?

Very curious to see the beam profile.

Thanks

Curtis

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

The SFIII Gen2 could make an excellent host for this emitter. I understand it has 500L at 3.6V, 700mA, 2.52W, no slouch. More output then the P7 or MC-E.

This was taken from his forum.

Now I wonder if It can be driven harder for more output...hmm

The dies look significantly smaller than bot the MC-E and P7. Also, there appears to be no dome?

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

I think Mike can tell us more within the next hours...:naughty:

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

The LED shown in post #36 is a Ostar SMT. It is a surface mount LED which has no dome but instead a pc of glass over the dies. I did some testing earlier and can get the beam down to 5 degrees, much tighter than using an MCE. Its going to be about one week before I can post beam shots as the sample I received had died during testing and will re-order Monday. I will be receiving Ostar SMT's from a PZ brightness bin which is minimum 610 lumins to 700 lumens. Here is a link to the PDF file:

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

Very cool LED...I'm suprised it has flown under the radar for so long. Apparently it was released in June of 2008

Any chance we can get a shot of the ostar SMT next to a Cree MC-E for size comparisons?

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

:paypal: For #7 with Ostar (cool white) and standard body, thanks.

for one SF III with standard (regular) grip and cool white OSTAR SMT LED 🙂

Thanks for your patience !

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

..the sample I received had died during testing..

What killed it?

Can you translate the specs for us, Mike? My German is really rusty, and their translations are balky at best.

What's the drive current for the listed flux rating?

What's the maximum drive current?

What kind of voltage does it need?

Re: Advance payment for limited SF-III run.

cryhavok: Will post pictures a bit later on. I need some sleep.

dinokay and ArsMachina: Thank you and list updated.

donn: I will get back to you in the morning.
