Just for the heck of it I replaced one of my Reactor's 1.5v lithiums with a 3.6v one. It is BRIGHT! and actually overpowers my Exp. 1400.

Will I kill the Luxeon in a runtime test? I understand they are more sensitive to being overdriven than the Nichias. Is there a potential fire/explosion hazard with this mix?

A 3.6v lithium (lithium thionyl chloride) isn't meant for high current drain. They're meant to be used as memory backup batteries in computer equipment. They don't like being asked to supply more than a dozen or so mA on a continuous basis.

Not sure about the Luxeon. Until somebody opens a Reactor, there's no indication of what kind of heat sinking is used.
