In terms of using these two LED's, is there a consensus asto which of these is more desirable in outside use?

Oldnslow, that's a pretty good nickname you have there,
joining 2007 and reaching 2 posts today. ;)

It's personal preference but I would say 4000K.

In my opinion, 5000K is closer to pure white, but for primarily outdoor use I'd take 4000K.

Rural or urban?
The 4000K neutral is better for rural.
The 5000K cool is better for urban.

lol!!! I usually find most questions have been asked and answered many times, so I try not to ask the same one again.

The big reason I returned to CPF was because my old ARC aaa was lost. Of course, upon my return I found the LED improvements substantial and have purchased six single aaa flashlights, one double cell aaa flashlight, four single cell AA and one double cell. Will of course be ordering several more AA's, which is what prompted my question.
