I received both of these today and just had about 15-minutes to play around with them. The throw on the US is fantastic. Where I'm located, it's tough to test for a very long throw, due to surrounding buildings and the such. Initial thoughts are that it throws at least equal to my M6, however not as wide of a beam when tightly focused. I question the durability of the lens cover. It doesn't appear that it will handle a fall straight on the lens. I also can tell if my reflector is straight-plain or if it's orange-pealed at the center. It's difficult to tell. If it is orange-peeled, it's not very pronounced. I was bit surprised by the length. I wasn't expecting it to be as long as what it is. I do love the feel of this US in my hand. It's very secure and I'd have no problem whacking someone upside the head with the barrel. I need to do some more testing and comparisions to my M6. I do like the idea that I can get an hour (still not confirmed) between charges. If this turns out to be a keeper, I could see me selling one of my M6's.

As far as the Scorpion, the jury's still out. I had one before and quickly got rid of it. After listening to all the recent raves, I thought that maybe I missed something. It's, by far, the ugliest light I've ever owned, doesn't appear that it will reset water very much and is very difficult to get in and out of my back jeans pocket. True the KL1 fits the body, but leaves a huge gap between the head and the rubber casing. It throws further than my E2E, but not by much. Beam quality is horrible and just does not compare to my E2E, G2Z or Legand LX.

I'm not sure I'll keep the Scorpion. I'll update this as more testing is done.

Feel free to like.. you know... pass the scorpion to me if you don't want it...

I have had a scorpion for a while and I havnt had a problem with it. It's beam lets me see all the things I wanted and some that I didn't

well, if you decide to get rid of an m6, i will gladly trade you my ultrastinger w/fast ac/dc chargers...if your lucky, i might even throw in a bulb or two...

Guys, you need to try the TigerLight for throw. I have never used the US so I can't compare it. But I can say that it throws longer than any flashlight I own! I am not saying it puts out MORE light than the M6 or 10X. But it does have LONGER reach.

Not bad for a $150 rechargeable.

You can slide the rubber over the threads more, so it will match up with the KL1.

I don't know why your beam looks so bad, maybe these things are hit & miss? My beam looks way better than any P60 I've had and is whiter too. Perfect round hot-spot (when you set the focus). Maybe you got a bad one?

Glad you like the Ultrastinger. Sounds like the reflector you have will throw farther since it's smooth. The one I have is orange-peel and looks just like a surefire reflector.

Nascar, just to let you know the streamlight stippled reflector looks *just* like a surefire reflector. nice orange peel all the way through.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hmmmm. Wonder if I got an old one or something. It appears (it's really hard to tell), that mine is orange-pealed towards the buld and flat towards the lens cover, but again, it's really difficult to tell. The area towards the bulb is not really a pronounced wrippling, but you can see a textured reflection while looking into the lens with it off.

Sounds like you have the newest version. That's how my US with the new reflector looks. If you look at the textured portion from an angle, it's not really noticeable, just looks "wavy". The stippling/texturing/whatever is more visible looking at the reflector head-on.

BMSMITH posted some nice pic including US reflector not too long ago:

My UltraStringer's reflector look like the 2nd photo from the thread:

I had a tigerlight for a week now, it gives the best throw of any light I have had, not the prettyest looking light but the most powerful one. And is rechargeable.

Do/have you owned the Ultrastinger and made a direct comparison? Until now, nobody has been able to review these two lights together. They seem to be the brightest rechargeables out there.

If i were to pick from the two, however, i may have to go with the Ultrastinger because of its price. For the same price (or less) of the Tigerlight, you can have an Ultrastinger and 2 FAST chargers shipped for under $140 US.

Although, i DO like the fact the the Tigerlight's NiMH battery gives out a more consistent light output than the Ultrastinger's NiCD batteries. BUT the Ultrastinger is the only rechargeable light out right now with it's brightness and the ability to be charged in under 3 hours.

I am amazed at the Tiger Light because it can run a long time at high brightness. I am guessing it uses 6 (3x2) 'A' cells, which have a capacity of around 2000 mAh. The Ultrastinger only has 5 sub-C Ni-Cd which have 1800 mAh capacity. However you can upgrade your battery using 5 3000 mAh Ni-Mh Sub-C cells.

Don't forget the Surefire 10X!

Ratso:

4/5A NiMHs (43mm long) are available at 2000 mAh and A NiMH's (50 mm long) are available at 2700 mAh. From prior postings, I suspect the Tiger Light Cells are 4/5 A's.

As far as nascar's concern about dropping it on the lens, I have dropped mine right on the lens
on crushed rocks, and had no damage. The light was a little scuffed around the reflector area, but the lens sustained no damage. In fact, it
is quite a bit more subtantial than my 12Z with
the 2.5in old style t-head. I wouldn't worry
at all about the US's durability. It is a very
robust light.

Ratso,
If you see my post above, I mentioned all of my Surefires . I love my 10X Dominator for close to medium range. But when you want to reach out with very white light, the TigerLight is the true "DOMINATOR"

It seems to me that the Tiger should come with a slightly wider beam for a short range BLAST simular to the M6 or 10x, since it is married with a short range pepper spray. As it stands, I want pepper spray on an M6 or 10X. That would be perfect...and I am very willing to pay for something custom like this!!!! $$$$$$$$$$

Any good custom guys want to take a try at designing something?

So....... I have come to the conclusion that Nascar doesn't like the Scorpion. He thinks it is the "ugliest" flashlight he ever seen in the world.

In fact, he hated this flashlight so much that he has to buy one to prove his point, so no one can say he can not dislike something his doesn't have.

I think eventually he will not stand the Scorpion any longer and have to get rip of it. If no one is willing to buy from him, he may actually paid you to take it off his hand!!!

So be patient people.
