Recharging Cyalume??
I know of a few kinds of lightsticks that you can recharge, but they're batt. operated.

Fwiw-those "spent" chemical cyal. sticks can, if put in the freezer, be made to re-glow for a little while....

R.J. Crowley (Ionlite) sent me one of those

,-it's merely a plastic tube with 2-3gms. of strontium aluminate glow mix..
FYI-since then, I've made up my own glow-tubes using a much more potent and longer-lasting blue/green pigment fairly recently developed that is much better than the Nichia stuff, and using transparent plastic tube instead of the translucent type that R.J. himself wasn't satisfied with.

*Incidentally, along with reliably mating the little Arc-AAA element with the AA tube of the Infinity, I have also made use of the old white Infinity element by mating it to the high quality translucent tube from the LazerBrite stick-for a completely rechargeable lightstick (40hrs), and waterproof. It was easy to do, and only glows 3-4x brighter than the Krill lights.

You can only interrupt them when you put them into the freezer. And you may do it at any time. Lower temp = lower light output for longer time and vice versa. Under a specific temp (which I don't know, but -18°C work nice) it seems to stop completely. It is also good to store unused Cyalumes in a freezer, theri shelf life is highly extended.

Where did you get this material???

Is it a powder, or available in sheets????

To make my EternaLight more useful while camping, I was hoping to get some glowing stuff and apply it to the "face" of the case right around the LEDs. This should brighten up the beam slightly, and enable me to find it in the dark.

Harrkev, I think a couple people have used something called Alien Skin<?> for self adhesive glow sheets. I'm sure KenBar used it on a few of his projects. I may have the name of the stuff wrong though.

As "Go-Go"

says: the self-adhesive stick-on Alien Skin is xlnt. and easy to use. You can get 2-5"x6" pieces for $20. OR also available is an very good Blue stick-on sheeting (cut with scissors to fit), from: www.glowstickfactory.com @ $5.75 a linear foot.
The blue material does not glow as brightly as the Alien Skin at First, but I've seen it many times STILL glowing after 24-36 hours

(and it's price is very reasonable, of course).

More work, but very worthwhile is the most Powerful stuff I've ever seen: the new Blue/Green powder mix for paint from: www.extremeglow.com @$20. for 75 grams. -IMO, this stuff is amazing, and white LED stimulation just drives these materials crazy

dangee,

You should place one of lightsticks at the bottom of your toiletbowl this way all u have to do is aim at the light
grin.gif
of course remember to secure it or u will need a new one each time u flush

dangee,

I tried something similar, but each time I move the tube, the powder shifts, resulting in unexposed powder. I tired shaking the tube while exposing to light, but still have dark areas. I really like your lights, how do you ensure equal exposure of the powder to light. Also what plastic tube material do you use? Thanks Pete

Or roll up a piece of Glow Sheeting and stuff it inside a clear tube...

I have an 8x10 sheet in a self standing clear plastic picture holder on the top shelf near a torchiere lamp - lights the whole room.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The tubes are standard flexable poly, filled completly with powder so as it will not shift around and sealed with a couple of drops of nail polish @ each end b4 installing capplugs. hit it for around a minute with floro or a higher intensity light to charge. but once the entire contents are charged its last for a long time b4 falling out of regulation and going into moon mode.
