Okay, this is not a flashlight question, but what better bunch of people to ask a battery question!

I just bought an infant swinger for my soon to be born daughter. Did great in the reviews, blah, blah, blah, but it does not plug into the wall and it runs on size D batteries.

Which D battery is the best and which charger to go with it? With my middle daughter she used the swinger constantly, so I want to be able to reuse the batteries often, but I don't want to spend a fortune.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I use Tenergy D cells and a Maha 808M charger. The 808M can charge at a rate of 2000 MaH which is crucial if you want to charge those D cells in under a day. Holds 8 cells, keeps them in good condition. Little bit more than some of the other chargers but none of them are near as fast in charging high capacity D cells.

Of note, I use my D cells in a portable fan, couple mags, and a couple lanterns. The 808M+10K D cells = tehhawtness. (That's what the cool kids say right?)

Battery Junction sells tenergy D cells at a reasonable price and I think they have a CPF discount ta boot.

Thank you both for your replies and advice. I was looking at the Tenergy batteries on Battery Junction a couple of days ago and had almost bought them before I posted the question on here.

Thank you macdude22 for the advice on the charger, as I had no clue with what to go with there.

Anybody else have luck with the Tenergy batteries or the Maha 808M charger? Or suggest anything else?

Thank you again for taking the time to reply!

Kage,
let me start by saying I am a big fan of rechargeable options. Cost savings is great, safe for the environment (NiMH) and they work great in just about everything. I've just about phased out regular batteries altogether.

Get a charger that can do a variety of cells. If this is your first kid you will soon find yourself buying lots of batts. Mostly AA and C's.

As far as the baby swing goes I will guess this will be the least of your worries. I have a graco (I think) that takes 4 D's. I don't remember changing the regular batteries at all for my first son and its going 6 months so far with my second. It's not used super hard but it certainly is not hard on the batteries.

Rechargeable D's get costly. Unless you will have another use for them after she grows out of the swing you may be better off spending that money on AA's.....or diapers.

I have been lookin at the MH-C900 & the La Crosse BC-900 chargers. I notice that the BC-900 comes with 4 each AA to C & D Adaptors. I beleive this lets you put AA Batteries into C & D size adaptors and use them instead of C/D and batteries. Don't know if this will meet your needs but may be something to look into. Good Luck. :)
