Rechargeable Lithium AA vs. CR123A

Hey Battery Experts. I have a cheap Romisen "Cree" single-mode light I got off ebay. Interestingly, it works with 1xAA, 2xAA or 1x123A. I basically want this thing to be as bright as possible (and secondarily, to last as long as possible). I'm not familiar with the wonderful world of rechargeable lithium so what would you guys recommend from say this page: http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.400
It would seem that the AA type batteries have a little higher capacity than the cr123a's...
Also, is this thing likely to play nice with the extra .6 volts?

A RCR123 should give out the most light with the shortest runtime.
Depending on the driver but its like that with most.

Personally I would use that light with 2x AA NiMh cells.
