As the title states I recieved a SF C2 in a trade and there is something that is bothering me about it. I can NOT DO PICTURES!

Here is the issue and if anyone can provide any input it would be appriciated.

On this particular C2 on one side it says "C2 centurion" with serial number and NO PATTENS #. On the other side it has the surefire logo. In any pictures that I have seen it has the Pat. # This is an incan version but I compared it to the LED version that I have and it looks the same other than it has three flat sides and the bottom (oppisit side as the clip) is rounded.

I have tried to search for any information on surefire clones/copies and came up with nothing. Any help would be great! i just want to make sure I did not get duped.

Maybe an older version?
What does it say on the tailcap?

I appriciate the feed back and it does look like Kestrel's C2 only natural ano. I do not have the cross hairs logo but the newer one.

But I see in the photo that there are no PAt.# on his so I am guessing it is real. It looks and feel like the real deal and I am pretty sure it is. Just have not seen a SF light without the Pat.# on them.

Thanks guys! I appriciate your feed back. I am sorry about the lack of pictures. I can not do them. The only computer I have access to is at work (for a good reason - I am a work a holic and if I had one at home well I would just work there two) and if I were loading pictures at work it probally would not end in my favor.

The older C2's, and M2's had 3 flats and no Pat #'s. They also had the "Surefire" logo on one side upside-down from the way they read today.

LOL, here I go, passing up a multitude of 4-flats C2's in CPF/MP for ~1.5 years, finally find a 3-flats C2 that I was looking for, and the OP gets a comparable (except HA-nat) one in a trade. LOL. :ohgeez:

Chef, I wouldn't sell/trade off that C2 if I were you. I've held the newer 4-flats C2/C3's and they don't feel nearly as nice in the hand IMO. I got my older 3-flats C3 a while ago by accident like you did, and would be very hard pressed to find another - luckily I held on to that 3-flats -BK until I happened to compare it to a 4-flats -HA that I had just purchased (& subsequently sold off the 4-flats). Good snag.

You can find the old 3 flats C2's/M2's on Ebay. They are NIB, They are old, come with manual dated 2001 or so, Surefire batteries that expire in 2012. I didn't like 3 flats so I sold it. there were 3 of them from 2 different vendors a month back.

Thanks Kestrel! Now that I know it is a true SF I will not be geting rid of it anytime soon.

I have already put a M60LF in it and the "red SF filter" (not sure what the code number s though). Great light just wanted to verify it was a real SF.

Thanks for the input guys. As always I look to all of you for the lighted path.

The orientation of the logo is pretty much random, and has nothing to do with the model variation. The machine doing the laser engraving can be fed from both sides. The feeding/stocking is done by hand. Left-handed workers tend to use one side, right-handed ones the other. In the end, it's by choice of luck which end and orientation will be used. The right-handed side is use more often, so these orientation are more common.
