Recommendation for minimum $200 flashlight including batteries

The Malkoff head and body are the correct parts to make the light complete.

The eBay listing seems to be for the unprotected version of the 3400 mAh Panasonic cell. This is a well regarded cell, and the only thing that would make me nervous is that it comes from eBay.....where any item may be a fake.

If these cells will only be used with a Hound Dog head, it should be completely safe, since the Hound Dog head shuts off when the voltage it sees is reduced to 5.5 volts, which is 2.75 volts from each cell.

Using these cells in the future in the MD4 body with an MD2 head with M61 light engine or Wildcat head, which operate down to zero volts, is not a safe endeavor.

The Nitecore i2 and i4 Intellichargers are the cheapest chargers I'm aware of that have proven to be dependable and safe. They can be readily found online for $16 plus shipping.

Do you have a digital multi-meter? You will need to keep an eye on the voltage of the two cells to keep them at the same level before use together, and to ensure they aren't over charged or discharged.

Yes I do have a digital multimeter, if you think the batteries might be fake which I do as well is their a better supplier that is relilable?

I haven't used them myself, but KeepPower batteries are regularly recommended here. The 3400 mAh battery uses the Panasonic NCR18650B cell, with a KeepPower protection circuit added to it. It is available from Illumination Supply for $13.99 each, and I'm pretty sure there's a discount code for CPF users.

I personally use AW 3400 mAh cells, which I generally purchase from Oveready.

I just read part of the 18650 fitment post that states that KeepPower 3400 mAh 18650s are a snug fit in Malkoff MD bodies. It suggested removing the label for easier insertion/removal.

We have recently increased the ID of the MD4 bodies to allow for the newer, slightly larger diameter, 18650 3400ma cells. The KeepPower cells should be fine.

This answers the KeepPower fitment question for sure.

Thanks for the information, Gene.
