Hey guys, I received my TK10 today and I'm really pleased with how nice it feels in hand, really a step up from any other flashlight I've owned.

From studying the beam it looks like IMO, that the TK is an inbetween flooder/thrower with a decent hot spot but with decent spill as well. But now I'd like a nice thrower to really light up far away.

I'd like either a AAA,AA,2xAA,or 123 (1 or 2) battery format as I think I'd like to keep the size down. I'd also like to keep the price below $100. Otherwise I guess it's wide open.

Thanks!

I guess the only one I have in mind currently is the TK11 with the R2 led which from what I've read is marginally brighter and warmer than the Q5 but with the smooth reflector it should be a bit more of a thrower shouldn't it?

+1 for the recoil led. Inexpensive light, decent quality, actually a usable light for an "aspherical" type of beam. I have the 007 and am very happy with it. Not quite a superb light but decent for the price. Chef

I am liking the RRT-2 and it's pretty close to my price and I like that it does have the R2 LED and a smooth reflector and in reviews people comment that it's closer to a thrower, but that there is some good spill as well. Keep the suggestions coming guys, I appreciate the input.

As I don't like big lights, the RRT-2 is my best thrower by far. There is hardly any spill, only a tight hotspot.

I also have the TK11 and the Olight M20, but they are degraded to universal lights besides the Raptor.

I'm highly interested in the ThruNite Catapult, but it will be more than 103 $, my estimation is 149,95$. I doubt it will outthrow the RRT-2, but it'll probably be the best universal thrower around, that also offers a bright spill.

I would have to agree with the above posts. I just received my Jetbeam RRT-2 in the mail today and tried it outside just a few minutes ago. For the size of this light it has amazing throw. It is very impressive. And the UI is very smooth.

Need a Light that Will Throw Far

What would be your suggestions for a fairly inexpensive flashlight that will really throw a beam. I'd prefer something relatively small, but since it won't be carried on me full time, if it's larger than pocket size, I'll be able to live with it. Something that will shine a beam across a long stretch of beach or pond. Thanks!

if your not too worried about the size, id look at the epsilon p72 as well, not bad for $90, or the p71 for only $54 (1 x 18650). good value...
