So I'm looking to get some small blinking LED light as beacon to tie to clothing during skiing and other outdoor activities. Local store has white and red version that can both blink and constant on. I'm thining red would stand out more due to its color since it's not something occur naturally or used as general illumination. But I also don't want it to be mistaken as distress signal. White probably is less likely to be mistaken as such, and has more use than red, but then again I have a few white lights on me.

What's your opinion?

Depending on the construction of the unit, it might be easy to change the LED to another color. Maybe green or blue?

Deffinatly go with the RED I cant say that enough times the red will stand out more and will get your tail end saved should shtf also it is of a longer wavelength and has less possibility of refracting back at you so theorectically the light would be able to travel a longer distance....also snow is white you would blend in (not that snow blinks)... just go with the red

No just a cheap fauxton like, 2x2032 with a circuit for both constant on and blinking. Although I found out the blinking mode is now 4 or 5 times per second unlike the older once per second, that would be pretty annoying to look at so I'll probably go look for something else.
