I just heard form a Lumileds rep that they are no longer making the 40-lumen red rebels. Apparently there were some manufacturing issues. They will keep making the 30 lumen bin and all of the Red-Orange bins incluidng the 50 lumen. Personally, I'm bummed. I don't understqand it because red LuxIs and IIIs in the same bin range never had any problems AFAIK. At any rate, I ordered the last few that they still had in inventory for my next project, but these beauties will be missed.

Why would they discontinue the 40lm? Isnt it just another bin? It seems like Lumileds themselves are not aware of this rumour even.

The answer I just got from Lumileds is that the 40lm red rebel is outselling the 30lm, so I think there´s nothing to worry about :)

Yeepee! What about the cool white rebel 100? It's been MIA from Future's website for about two weeks now.

I dont know I´m afraid. But from what I´ve heard are the demand of the higher bins bigger than what they can supply right now. But that´s apleasant problem I think :) At least for them..

Demand exceeding supply can be "nice", but only to a certian extent. If it just barely exceeds supply, then you're probably okay. But if you have huge backlogs of orders, then you start to lose customers just because of shipment delays. Waiting a couple weeks is one thing, but having to wait 6 months for parts can cause a customer to turn to another vendor rather quickly. After all, they have to get their products out the door in a reasonable timeframe as well.
