Hi all,

I just received my pf40 and I'm really impressed with it. However, I noticed that the reflector is slightly textured. On the photos of the ph50, I saw that the reflector was smooth. Anyone knows if it's possible to get a smooth reflector for the pf40 ?

I think the question is best posed to Ken Good of Polarion Francois. As an aside, my PH50 reflector is smooth. PM to you.

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

Where did you get it from? Was it a distributor/dealer in the EU?

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

Perhaps you are noticing the reflection of the salt deposits within the lamp?

That's what I was thinking. It shouldn't have any texture at all, just smooth.

Did you get it through a reputable seller?

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

I've got it from a german dealer, flashlightshop.com. It's really an OP reflector, there are no dust deposits, or reflection of salt deposits. I must say that the beam is very nice, but I don't know how much throw I loose.

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

I purchased my PH40 2 months ago and it has a smooth reflector. Every photo I've seen of a PH40 also had smooth reflectors. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the two! Enjoy your PH40, it is a great light.

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

I have a couple of smooth reflectors in Stock.

Every reflector I have seen is smooth. That being said, I believe Polarion did make some stippled reflectors.

Can you post some images?

The throw difference between a Mac's mini 10W HID with modamag MOP, reflector compared to a smooth one is about 25%-30% in my experience.

I'd love to see some pictures, whenever you have the chance.

Thanks Francois.

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

Hmmmm...just checked my PH40.It also has a OP Reflector....didn´t checked my PH50 though :grin2:
Anyway in any Case...it IS a great Light! And i do NOT regret the money i spendt!
Just needed the PH50 a few weeks ago in a real rescue task.A young guy "left" the street with his car where no exit was *gggg*...
Landed in a Crop field....when i saw the szenario i really wondered myself that he wasn´t that much hurt beside a huge shock....and of course he couldn´t get his car out there by himself :grin2:
Anyway, it was the first REAL task for a superb light!

Regards...

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

I'd guess, as with others, lessens any bulb/beam artifacts?

I will take some pictures and try to post them. Any tips to post images simply ?

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

I'll have to defer to Adam on this one, I have never posted any pictures on the forum.

You'll want to use an image hosting site like Photobucket.com. You can upload your photos to photobucket and then paste those links in your post using the IMG code. Example: [IMGyour-own-image-link-here[/IMG] Or you can just place your mouse pointer over the "IMG Code" in photobucket and click copy then carry it over to cpf and paste it directly into the text box in your next post.

Hope that helps some. :)

Re: reflector on polarion pf40

If that does not work out , you can send the images to me & I will post them here.

email: [email protected]

That being said, it would be a good thing for you if you learn the process so you can post any images on any board in the future.

The actual syntax to post your image here would be something like:

[img(removethis)]http://hostname.com/yourimagename.jpg[/img]

The previous post is missing bracket.
