I had a 2C Mag lying around and recently acquired some micropucks. I already have a a few 3x123 5W lights, so I resisted the temptation to build another. Since I also had an extra Q2H 1W SE, it seemed like a worthwhile mod to try. I call it the "uglee bastid".

Lens is a "borofloat".
Light output registered 2640 lux at one meter. Now don't let the lux numbers fool ya.. This light is very nice and white but doesn't produce quite the flood of light that my direct drive mods do. However, it is very usable and makes roughly the same amount of usable light that one of my 800+ lux LGI's does. Its huge reflector gathers and concentrates light much better than any collimator can.
At first I felt a bit disappointed that I spent more money building a light that puts out LESS light, but the puck should keep this light running for MUCH longer than others I have. The puck pulls 500mA and is supposed to feed 375mA to the Luxeon. After using this light for the past couple days, I have really grown to like it. Initially I considered selling it, but it managed to attain "keeper" status based on its consistent performance. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
