Hello light lovers,

I'm having a lot of trouble locating a store in my area that sells Cygolite headlights. I'm 20 miles west of Montreal (Quebec, Canada). My plan is to mount 2 Cygolite Hi-Flux 100's on a Topeak BarXtender underneath my handlebar bag. The lights have remote switches that would go on the handlebars; one on each side. There won't be a lot of clearance, but this particular light is mounted from the lower back end and not from underneath.

Anyways, if I can't get the Cygolites, my second choice is one Sigma Powerled Black that can be mounted upside down, underneath the Xtender bar. The problem, of course, is that there's no remote switch. Could someone please give me instructions on how to connect a remote switch or suggest an alternative headlight that would fit the bill?

I thank you.

Here you have...

These two white wires are going to the momentary switch - if you want you can connect there some switch on the wire.

Thank you.
A few points:
I'm a total novice.
Would the wire come out from where the light switch is?
If so, how would it be finished and waterproofed?
There are 3 settings on the light. Would connecting it the way you showed, allow all three functions?
What kind of switch would I need?

You will have to make a hole in to the rubber cap of the switch and glue it into the body.

You can use waterproof momentary switch from the CatEye Remote Button For CD300/HR200.

Yes, all 3 functions will be available.

Thank you very much for the info. I'm not giving up on finding the cygolites or an alternative, yet, but at least I now know what to do if I end up getting a Sigma Powerled.

Hi Calina,

I've checked out BLT and I can order them locally. I'm impressed by some of them, but the site doesn't really give a lot of info. I like the Ozone 21ne, the Firewire 4 and the Triton T4. It doesn't look like the Firewire has a remote switch and the other two are unknowns. Do you happen to know if either the Ozone or the Triton have remote switches?

Thank you for responding.

Aside from the remote switch, the other thing I like about the Hi-Flux 100 is that it comes with an optional wide view lens, so that with two, one can be spot and the other can be flood.

Unfortunately, I don't have that information (call the stores) but it should not be that hard to modify a light so it would use a remote switch.

Like I said, I'm a total novice, so what's easy for you, might not be easy for me. :)
I actually found three stores that have accounts with the Cygolite distributer, but two said they don't deal with them anymore and one store said they'd phone them and call me right back. That was about 8 hours ago.

I found another "possible" and started a thread to get some more info.

I thank you very much for responding, everyone.
