Big Bad
Newly Enlightened
Hello folks, I'm a new member of CPF, but have been reading your posts for quite a while. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and attempting my first project.
I'm considering a LED drop in replacement lamp for a Shurfire M6 Guardian. I can't find where anyone has build one yet, although I'd love to see those threads if it's been attempted.
I envision a solid brass replacement assemply with one or more super bright LED's at the tip and the driver(s) at the base by the spring. I have the machine shop covered, question is what is the best LED(s) Driver(s) to use? LED(S) must fit in a .372 inch (9.45mm) diamater circle. I'm planning on using the standard power pack with the pair of three CR123 in series for 9 volts.
I think the brass will be a sufficient heat sink with a close tolerance fit to the alluminum reflector. I don't expect to create anything that will out throw the MN21, but as bright as I can get with the run time of the MN20 would be great.
Any and all advice appreciated,
Big Bad
