Review: 4Sevens Quark Series Lights

Those are some great pics jtice.Now-with out thinking-which one would you pick if you could only buy one and why?
Id say the AA mainly due to me being stuck on AA lights at the moment.
I got a huge batch of lithium AAs, and I like that if I am out and the batt dies, I can easily find another AA battery.
I also like the AAs size the best.

Thanks for the review. Yes, I think the AA size is best, however I don't have the Q123 yet. I did purchase the 2xAA tube and believe that it will make a very nice, if expensive, battery carrier. The Quark is just way too long in the 2xAA version.

Thanks for the review and great pictures. The 4-sevens lights have a lot going for them and are solid performers for sure. A nice balanced set of features.

Great review!:twothumbs I just got an AA2 today. I am very impressed. Too bad it is a present for my father-in-law. I couldn't resist playing with it though. He will love it. The moonlight mode is a wonderful feature. It is much dimmer than my Nitecore Extreme on low mode, but still bright enough to be useful. Makes me really want one for myself!

Nice review and pics but I have to say my 123x2 gets noticeably hotter than my PD30 and P100C2.

After 5-6 minutes on turbo the my Quark gets almost to hot to hold and definitely to hot for me to be comfortable about it. Its not a big deal though I rarely use turbo for that long.

What exactly makes them different than the Fenix PD/LD series? (besides the LED chip)

Knurling, design, tint, throw capability, beamshape, LED (already written...), clip (bi-directional), holster, acessories...

Anyone remember something else ?

I think another big thing is that all the Quark models use boost/buck circuits (except for the Q123^2, which is buck only). This allows them to have regulated output using a variety of battery types, including rechargable Li-Ion.

I think most of the Fenix PD/LD lights are boost only so won't get regulated output with rechargeable Li-Ion (you'll have direct drive for a while).

Oh yes... moon mode!! How could I forget that ? :naughty:

Circuit is different too, but I didn´t know that...

Something else? Anyone?

I found out just how useful moonlight mode is last night. Our son had an alergic reaction to peanut butter yesterday. That involved a trip to the ER, and him looking like a fat tomato for quite a while. We wanted to check on him in the night without waking him up. My wife grabbed the Nitecore Extreme, and turned on low mode. She thought it would wake up the little guy, given how bright low mode is. So I gave her the new Quark in moonlight mode. Perfect. She was able to examine him and make sure he was okay without disturbing him. I really have to get a Quark now, as the one I'm using goes to live with my father-in-law soon.

Both of my kid's night lights blew out (they don't last that long). So now every night when they ask for a light and I bring in a quark on moon mode and leave it on the shelf :D

FYI: Walmart, Lowe's have automatic light sensor LED night lights in a 2 pack for <$5. Mine have had no problems and are well over a year old.

Edit: I still "need" to get a Quark though!
