I have read various opinions on what the L5 is going to be like, and would like to pre-order one. But does anyone really /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gifknow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif for sure whether it will be on an M2 or C2 body? Whether it will just be brighter, or with a more focused beam, or whether it will be switchable between several output levels? Is there any way of finding this stuff out before Surefire actually realeases them for sale?

Same for the L6.

Thanks for the indulgence on an old and ongoing subject. . .

Welcome to CPF elk!

M2 and C2 bodies are the same body. In fact, the L5 will be the L5 body because it will say "L5" on it rather than "M2" or "C2"! It's all about etching really.

The KL5 will be on an M2/C2 body (two SF123A).
The KL5 will NOT have switchable output levels.

The KL6 will be on an M3 body (three SF123A).
The KL6 will NOT have switchable output levels.

The KLx do not currently and will NOT have switchable output levels.

I hope this helps?

Al - It helps a lot, thanx! So, basically the only difference will be that both the L5 and L6 will have more lumens than the L4. . .

I think the number of lumens will purely be down to the good ol' Luxeon lottery, not even surefire can do anything about that. Ditto what OCD said, i think the main difference will be beam shape/throw.

I have not commented on the output or runtime in this thread.

I would love to see tighter, brighter beams from these larger bezels compared to the KL4.
