Many think of Burt Bacharach as the smiling fellow who wrote songs like Walk On By, Rain Drop Keep Falling on My Head and others. His songs were covered by pop singers, country singers, soul and R&B along with synth pop.

He died quietly in his residence recently of natural causes.
Here's what Elvis Costello had to say about him.

What a music legend. Raindrops keep fallin' on my head, Close to You, That's What Friends are For... he wrote stuff for Dionne Warwick, Herb Alpert, The Carpenters... he even wrote the theme for The Blob.

What a legacy. RIP sir.

An amazing songwriter who created elegant music that played endlessly in the '60-'70s. They'll never be another like him in my lifetime. RIP...

And... you'll never believe that "My Little Red Book" by Arthur Lee & Love was written by Burt Bacharach! I'm sure the original arrangement was waaaay different
