Having a Cree XRE mod posted here recently for the river rock 2aaa headlamp, I thought that the headlamp would be ideal for another mod so it can use a single CR123A battery. This would be an almost perfect small lightweight headlamp.

Is it possible?

if you can re-shape the plastic battery holder to accept a cr123 without breaking it, and make a battery door for it.. and .. nevermind... no it's not possible to mod this light to accept a cr123. I'm waiting for a lightweight 1xcr123 cree or seoul headlamp thats waterproof like the riverrock / enduro.

If you like lithiums use a couple AAA lithiums at 1100 mAH each. That's almost as much energy as one cr123a. Of course initial voltage might be too high. If you're dead set on cr123a's then clip a regular 123a light to a hat brim, or make a holder for an old headlamp plate. The nuwai/favourlight 2x123a is pretty sweet.
I love the fact the Enduro uses aaa's, my 2 came with old almost dead cells and they still lit on low.

What may be an interesting idea is make a boost circuit/123 holder for a 3AAA headlamp. It may not be more runtime but perhaps less hassle than dealing with the 3AAA bit if the design were well though of.
