River Rock 3 Watt Luxeon

I just got the River Rock 3 Watt Luxeon at Target for $24.95.

Uses 2AA size batteries.

DC-DC Boost Circuit.

Comes with 2 Panasonic LR6 AA Batteries.

Twist on and off, momentary on rear tailcap switch.

The beam is adjustable. The lens is made of plastic which is glued in.

I pretty much concur with ernsanada.

It bears mention that this light has a STOUT body. Nice thick walls!

I don't have any 2650 but E 2500 fits with a wee bit of room to spare.

It fits my hand beautifully and I like it a LOT!

As you say thick walls and seems tough.

I was surprised at the beam, very nice!

I am going to use this light at work. I lost my Magled 2AA at work last week. I think this light will a very good replacement.

With the head unscrewed a bit the spot gets tighter. But it moved too much.

Some plumbing tape fixed that!

Yes I forgot to mention that the beam is adjustable.

Is you head very loose?

Mine isn't that bad.

It does look very similar to the Nuwai X3 which is also a 3W luxeon, shown here:-

Specs seem similar, but the shape is wrong.

And yes, without thread tape the head on my RR wobbles a bit if not screwed tight. A little turn and a half of GOOD tape fixes it.

If you're hunting or camping, and you drop the light; you're screwed!

I saw one at Target as well. The shape is suspiciously similar to the X-3. RiverRock appears to use lights from China 'rebranded/manufactured to their specs'. Looks like they took an existing light and just changed the design/finish.

Anyone know if the black piece surrounding the Lux3 is removable? I'd love it if this light could be modded with an SSC P4 or a colored Lux.

Great pics ersanada!

I bought this light about 1 week after they appeared at Target. And I really like mine.

Its my go-to beater light. The camo finish (is it ceramic or Duracoat?) is holding up very well.

I run Ni-MH for a very flat output of 2-3 hours. The beam is very smooth with a cooler, white tint.

And after cleaning my threads a couple times, the twist action is buttery smooth.

And having a true momentary on is very big in my book.

I believe it is another incarnation of the Nuwai X-3. The body and tailcap are the same, just the head is different.

Its well worth the $24.99 off the shelf at Target. :thumbsup:
