Roadside LED Flares

I own an SoS Turbo Flare for the rare roadside emergency. This sucker is quite tough and bright but it is also a little bulky. Anyone know of other (smaller) LED based alternatives?

I paid $60 for mine at Smarthome.

PS Anyone else own or use this precious flare? How do you like it so far (and where do you keep it in your vehicle)?

I have two strobing multi-red LED traffic wands about 2 feet long, one I got at Quartermaster Uniforms and I forget where I got the other. I like the Quartermaster one best (it was about $25 bucks and runs about 50 or 100 hours on 2 D cells), but the other one also has a regular PR based flashlight built in to the very end of the wand which makes it doubly useful and it's cheaper. I think it was from a Canadian manufacturer. The nice thing about them is the price, the fact that their visible from every direction, and very long battery life. Quite bright and effective strobing action (also switch position for steady on).

How do the Eternalights fare as SOS flares? I don't think they can run double duty as roadside emergency flares but for personal SOS they may be appropriate. Has anyone evaluated them in this capacity?

I agree that the Eternalights are great as personal beacons and can be used to supplement flares, but IMHO, the narrow viewing angle of the LEDs (no fault of the Eternalights themselves) make them less than adequate as a primary warning signals, unless you can point it almost directly at where danger may come from. Typically, white isn't used either as a traditional hazard signal color, which may cause confusion.
