I just received a Romisen RC-M4 from DX. The quality is amazing. The threads are very smooth. It works with my Deerelight 3 mode P60 1.2A Q5 droping and takes a 18650 battery.
IMO this is a much better value than my Cabelas XPG clone, the threads are better and the compatibility with the 1.2A deerelight modules really make this an outstanding value for $17.

Did you also notice that the lens is held in place by a threaded retaining ring just like a DereeLight CL1H, Huntlight FT0x, and TrustFire T1? It also takes protected 18650 cells. Nice and compact too!

I was looking at the m4 vs the e4 and I still don't get why it's a $1 more. I may pick up the E4 just because it has a two mode tailcap. IDK. I'm just looking for a good cheap 2xcr123 light and I kinda like the idea of being able to upgrade with drop ins...

So protected 18650's fit in the M4 without being so tight they have to be forced in...? No contact problems with the module?

Yep!!

I wrote in my P60 Flashlight List {host}
thread that I thought the RC-M4 was the best P60 chassis/dollar.
Super fit and finish!

The only thing I could find slightly lacking, is it could use a bit more heatsinking,...and that's being really picky.

The RC-M4 is a great host chassis.

Vikas,
There is not *that* much difference in size. I was surprised. Look at BessieBennie's review thread. There is a pic of an F4 next to a Superfire 501B. The M4 is very similar in size and shape to the Superfire. The M4 is a bit heavier and more substantial feeling but the physical dimensions aren't very different. The F4 is significantly brighter tho.

Sizes: RC-E4 > RC-M4 > RC-F4

Since multimode modules work with forward and reverse clicky switches, the single mode M4 is preferred. Moreover, the M4 has a threaded aluminum retaining ring holding the lens glass in place so it doesn't fall out when chaning modules. The E4 doesn't have this feature.

Thanks! I have 501B, so I can get the idea.

I also saw the picture posted in the other thread.

The M4 may be 1-2mm longer, but most of the light looks identical to the 501-B. As I noted before, the advantages of the M4 compared to the 501-B include the retaining ring holding the lens in place and the capacity to hold protected 18650 cells. Of the three (E4, M4, 501-B), the M4 is clearly the best host for P60 modules.

How bright is the M4 in its stock configuration, and how would you characterize the beam? If you could compare it to the Fenix L2D (cree) that would be even better :D.

Thanks, that's the kind of useful info I look for. I would imagine these reasons could justify the $1 difference between the two flashlights. That and the fact that protected 18650's are a really tight fit in the E4.

In stock form it is about equal to my P2DQ5 wrt brightness, the beam has artifacts though. It is really best used as a host, stock it isn't a bright P60.

They changed the specs on the E4. It couldn't take 18650 cells early on, but the current models have a larger battery tube that can take protected 18650 cells. The M4 is still a nicer light for other reasons.
