I made a similar lamp here.
I finished Romisen at Christmas (more information on the local forum), but I had a problem with LEDs ... I had to re-solder LEDs, and I have not complete the Romisen now, because I have exams on university and a little time ...

I made this flashlight per order for BVH.

Technical parameters of Romisen:
-power: 100W LEDs light
-LEDs: 6xSST-50 W57S GJ200 - the best bin, 1250lm/5A, total max. 7500lm
-cells: 2x18650 EMMERICH, 3x18650 with extension tube
-driver: Murata LSM2 T30 - 30A/3,3V output with 90% efficiency
-3mode - I can set 5-100W every one of them

I soldered 6xSST-50 at a time on PCB...

I made a new transfer system of amperes by using brass pad

I made a new double-spring system to 30A...

VERY VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE !:faint:

I can't wait to see beamshots ! When you will do some, can you put some comparison with ''standard'' flashlight ?

Wow, what a nice project, I wish I had your skills !

those are some wild hacks. 6 -50's is a big project, glad you did the exams first. Well done, well done.

What did you insulate reflector with to keep it from grounding out?
Does that driver give you any options? What made you choose it over just direct drive?
What performance are you getting from the cells? That is a big load for them to carry.
Beamshots? 7.5k theoretical is a nice amount

Unfortunatly it will be seriously underdriven on normal LiIon's:mecry:
6 x 15W = 90W
3 x 18650 = 12V at best thus 7.5A draw, no can do, unless its LiFe's and then 3 x 3V = 9V and draw is 10A. 18mm LiFe's are @1050-1100mA so runtime under 6 min.

But supercool build anyway:thumbsup:

ANSWERs:
I make beamshots comparison with "standard'' flashlight during 7-14 days, I have exam now ...

Insulate reflector is not needed, but I use the thermal pads for transfer heat to the reflector ...

Romisen has 3mode, I can set 5-100W for every one of them
For 18,650 Emmerich is not problem current 15A.

7500lm is demonstration, a flashlight is within a few minutes warm up.

Power consumption would be very unstable without the driver ...

One SST-50 has 16,5W(5A/3,3V)...
I can use 3x LiFePO 3.2V cells (maybe they should go use 2x LiFePO 3.2V cells, but the voltage would be a minimum threshold of driver Murata LSM), but instead 3x LiFePO 3.2V I would use 3x AW IMR18650 1600mAh, you have about 50% capacity more ...
For LiFePO must be another charger ...

Amazing work Mike! Really looking forward for some beamshots :)
:twothumbs

Mike is using high current Emmerich 18650 LiMn cells (probably rebranded Sony US18650V1 cells). They are good up to 15A and some of them can do up to 20A.

In 3x18650 configuration you can use Panasonic 18650 2900mAh cells. They are good up to 6-8A.

yeah I read the battery spec included in the first post and they do seem like impressive beasts. In hindsight that's also why driver is a must, these cells don't have the usual limits.
