This runtime plot is for an ARC LS(second) with the 2xAA battery tube. Fresh Everactive Alkaline batteries were used. At the end of the plot, there was almost no light.

Equipment used is a photocell and a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using ScopeView software (V 1.08).

The vertical axis is MA and the horizontal axis is 15 minutes per division.

Be aware that your actual battery mileage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That is about what my two runtime tests for the same light indicate. I use the same meter & program, although my photocell is probably different- I use one filtered and optimized for the normal range of what the human eye sees. (It filters out most of the UV and infrared)
 
My photocell has a clear plastic cover with little lenses molded into the surface. It was part of a solar power demo kit...ran a little electric motor.
 
Thanks Roy-I have enjoyed reading the results of the different runtime plots you have posted so far.Any chance you could do one for an Arc AAA?

Is the vertical axis in milliamperes with respect to current draw of the ARC-LS 2xAA configuration?

Could run one on a MiniMag? I do not recall any graphs for non-led flashlights posted by you.

The solar cell that I have came from the kid's school project. It was powering a little motor as a part of toy solar car. The cell is about 2"x3" and has lots of "glass dimples" on it.

Thanks for doing the runtime graphs. Could you do a conversion of MA to some standard form of light measurement that we (I) can understand, i.e., lux, candlepower, etc.

Once you have all the lights graphed, I wish that you could bright all the graphs together in one place so we could more easily compare across lights.

Read the discussion in "Run-Time Plot - Mr Bulk's LGI". It explains the relationship, or lack thereof, between my measurments and light output. The purpose of my runtime plots is to measure how LONG a flashlight puts out light, not how MUCH light it puts out. I don't have the funds to buy the kind of equipment needed to measure light output and still buy flashlights!

Sounds like the same photocell that I have...I believe Radio Shack also sells the little solar powered car kit that you speak of.

When I get through plotting all of my led flashlights I'll do some minimags..standard bulb and the Brinkmann bulb.

Check your local Radio Shack and see if they have or can get you the 22-805 Multimeter With PC Interface. It is no longer in the catalog so the remaing stock is in the local stores for $39.95.
