This runtime plot is for a completed Firefly made by Dspeck that uses 1x123 battery and a 1w LED. A Surefire 123 battery was used for this plot.

Equipment uses is a Extech mdl 401021 Light Adapter into a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using ScopeView software (v 1.08).

The vertical axis isin mV and is equivalent to one footcandle per mV. The horizontal axis is 15 minutes per division. All measurments were made at one foot, light to detector.

Be aware that your actual battery mileage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

The runtime to 50% max brightness = 85 minutes

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

I almost got a Nano-Mate. I am glad I didn't after seeing it next to the FireFly.

Super nice collection of 1 bangers you've got there. Do I see about $400. worth? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Roy
Thanks!!! It looks like about 1 hour to 1 hour & 15 minutes?
I like the looks of the Nano-Mate. What no ARC LS?

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

Had one of the origional LS seconds...blue tint, but sold it last year.

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

Whoops. Silly question. Found some better pictures. For some reason I thought the lanyard was connected to the clip. Like my E1.

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

Just got referred to this plot from the Sandwich Shoppe forum. Is the FireFly using MM+ wide open? or is it ratcheted down? Sorry, I'm sure that's somewhere in the monster FireFly thread, but too painful to dig it out. I ask because I want to use MM+ wide open in another single 123 light, and would like to know if this is the runtime plot I can expect. Thanks!

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

I really don't know what is in mine....it came completed so it has whatever he put in it. One hour 15 minutes would indicate the sanwich is pretty much wide open.

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

My suspicion is that's a MM W/O plot.

I don't have the equipment to do a nice plot like that, but with the turned-down MM Adj sandwich in my Firefly if you just made the horizontal scale into 25 minute increments instead of 15, it should pretty much match what I'm experiencing.

Thanks for the plot, Roy!

Re: Run-Time Plot - Firefly

Thanks Roy, and Tomas.

I hate to be off-topic, but this thread was dormant anyway, so I'll indulge in one more o/t post.

The reason I wasn't sure this was a MM+ WO is that 1h15 is what MM+WO gives on two alkys, which pack more mAh's than a 123 (as in LSH-123 plot vs. LSH-2AA plot). But I guess it's that the lithiums are much more efficient under high load.

Back on the main topic, Roy, your plots are awesome. Keep it up!
