Run-Time Plot - Pelican L1

This runtime plot is for a US Government version of the Pelican L1 single led flashlight. After 8+ hours there was still enought light being generated to see you feet. The L1 was loaded with four Energizer 357 Silver Oxide batteries.

Equipment used is a photocell and a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using ScopeView software (V 1.08).

The vertical axis is in MA and the horizontal axis is 15 minutes per division.

Be aware that your actual battery milage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

you can make the L1 last longer and brighter and i think would skew your graph alot if you remove a battery on the end and stuff it with tinfoil. that way it isn't over driven anymore which creates a lower amperage draw over a longer period of time. try it you'll like it. i heard this trick from someone here. i didn't notice it being any dimmer.

I would be interested in seeing if this trick worked. I don't have an L1, but I see tips like this from time to time and would like to know if they really make a difference.
Another tweak I would like to see measured is the infinity with and without the black dot.
On the other hand, I can see why you wouldn't want to get started measuring every tweak and mod. You'd be doing it full time.

Mostly it's because it cost about $8 to put new batteries in the L1!

Pelican L1 owners might want to check out the following Ebay auction Item # 1381690149. Using the "Buy it now option" you can purchase (10) SR-44 (silver oxide) cells for $5.99 with free shipping in the US. I bought some a few weeks ago and these cells were definitely fresh according to my multimeter. At the time of purchase, this particular Ebay user had no negative feedback on these cells.

I replaced one of the cells in my L1 with a small nut and it's still plenty bright! I would love to see a run time plot with 3 cells.
