This runtime plot is for a Tektite L222 LED Replacement Bulb. This TLD replaces the standard 222 bulb with the screw-in base. This plot was done with 2xAAA Ultra Alkaline batteries.

Equipment used is a Extech Mdl 401021 Light Adapter into a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using Scopeview software (V 1.08).

The vertical axis is in mVDC and is equivalent to one footcandle per mVDC. The horizontal axis is 30 minutes per division.

Be aware that your actual battery milage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot.

The runtime to 50% max brightness = 7hr 30 min

The Tektite L222 is designed to replace the standard 222 screw base bulb that is in common use in pen lights. The standard bulb has a fixed focus lens built into the top of the bulb.

The L222 is on the right.

Look here for the specs of the L222.

Here is a question for you, what did you think of the bulb overall? I am thinking about getting one for my wife's old Tek lite 2AA.

I was impressed with the 7.5 hour runtime to 50% max brightneww on 2xAAA batteries. It seems bit brighter than an ARC AAA. It has a fair amount of side spill and a wide center hot spot....overall, a smooth pattern. The color is on the blue side, but not overly so.

This could be a killer AAA conversion whem the Li AAA bateries come out later this year.

If you want a 2aaa led light about the same brightness as an Arc AAA, try a UKE 2AAA eLED which is something like $11.95 at Brightguy (Countycomm had them for $10 but they're not shown there any more). They run for about 20 hours on two alkalines.

Two lithium AAA's ought to do a nice job of running a 5mm led direct drive for a very long time, though brightness will be somewhat below Arc AAA level.

The L222 is most attractive for #222 lights that you have a special fondness for. I guess the Tekna 2AA would qualify. I also like the Splash-lite.

Thanks for the advice. The Tekna she has was a gift from her uncle about 18 years ago and she won't part with it. The least I can do is give it modern technolgy. It has a brighter bulb in in now, but it is still has terrible beam pattern.
Has anyone got their hands on one of these yet? http://www.terralux.biz/products/index.htm Most say they are availble for screw base.

Thanks for the info, Roy.
That is so cool. I think I may have to put this on the list of MUST-HAVES.

Exactly. I still have the last of a series of Tekna 2AAs that I EDCed for five years at sea at the first half of the 80s. And half a film can of those old incan 222s that are never going to see the inside of one of my lights.
