This runtime plot is for a Xnova AA flashlight that has 5 LEDs running on one AA Alkaline battery.

Equipment used is an Extech Mdl 401021 Light Adapter into a Radio Shack 22-805 multimeter with a PC interface that is using ScopeView software (V 1.08).

The vertical axis is 6mVDC per division and is equivalent to 6Fc @ 1Ft per division. The horizontal axis is 30 minutes per division.

Be aware that your actual battery milage may vary from that indicated by this runtime plot

Runtime = 6h 7m

From top to bottom we have:

Xnova AA
Xnova BAAA
ARC AAA

The Xnova AA has 5 leds and uses one AA sized battery.

The Xnova AA got it's name from the importer, CPF member "haveblue".

I am really impressed with mine. I use it to read in bed and while walking in the dark. The light throw is perfect for both. Sure cant beat the price. I like the fact that I can use rechargable AA cells. How do they compare to the light output on the X5? I guess they are less. I ask because I may add a X5 to my collect but not if its not a ton brighter than my new little AA Xnova.

Mike....for what it's worth, from the runtime plots here in the Reviews Forum, the starting brightness value for the X5 that I tested was 70Fc @ 1Ft and the starting value for the Xnova AA was 41Fc @ 1Ft.

I am confused. This runtime plot looks really good to me- similar in shape and duration to the plot for an Arc AAA only significantly brighter for this 5 LED light. But I have seen some other runtime plots of what I think is the same light that look less impressive- with a huge fall in brightness within about 30 minutes. The one at Craig's review site for instance. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

I think we may talking about different (but similar looking) lights from the discussions in this thread -

Inova X5 Clone goes (?): *RESULTS* with Pictures

The AA light that Craig of LED Museum has can stand on its tail-end - whereas the Xnova AA sold by haveblue have a curved/domed end that does not allow it to stand on the (tail) end.

The photo of the light shown by Craig (on page 1 of that thread - hotlinked below) does not have the protuding lip on the front bezel/head and the tail-cap lacks the ribbing/knurling of the Xnova AA.
