What is the runtime of the AlephI, 2x123, BB750 or 500, LIII compared to an LV?

This maybe what you want :

I can't make anything of that chart. Are the runtimes with or without the resistance? The 2x123 L5 with a 60ohm cap can run for 17 to 26 hours? What does that mean? 17-26 hrs on high or low?

On 2x123 you'd need a DownBoy for the LuxIII.

DownBoy runtime charts can be found in the review forum stickies, the Sandwich Shoppe threads and on Don's site.

The LuxV on a BB750 will (luxeon lottery beware) give you about 50min on full burn in regulation.

Thank you very much. Most of this electronics talk is, unfortunately, mumbo jumbo to me.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ... tell you a secret ... it's nonsense to me, too, I am just regurgitating what others have said ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ... and after a while, it starts making sense. Strange how one can fool oneself ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

I read somewhere else that the L-V (assume a 2x123) gets really hot in the Aleph I head. How long can you use it at full power, say with a 700ma driver before it gets too hot to use? and does it still get hot like that on a lower setting? Also, how does the 5w work on the 500ma driver?

I know, a lot of questions. I wish I knew more about this stuff, but I can't even understand that chart. Thanks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

PM sent. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Depends on the outside temperature and how you are using the light. At 750 mA, even the mighty PR-head will get very hot when sitting on your desk. However, I once used it during winter outside for more than 30min. continious and it barely got warm /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif, so it all depends.
To make the answer more useful, IMHO 600mA is a nice compromise and can be left on for very long times, especially when held in a human hand.
The low setting is no problem, no heat at all.

500mA is a very nice current for the 5W; still plenty bright (a bit less than the L4), longer runtime and less herat --> better efficacy.

What would be runtime/heat issues for a 5wt driven at 750ma on the high setting?

Enquiring minds like to know...

Runtime is about 50min on full burn on 2x123; heat is too much if left alone on a desk, the light mut be carried to maintain a safe temperature for mroe than 10-20minutes.

If you think about the numbers in the chart above it is clear that the runtime is with resistor. Take a look at the last entry for the SureFire KL4, wouldn't a runtime of !23hrs! without resistor be wonderful!!! This must be with the resistor in use of course. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Redoing these charts is top priority somewhere down the road. It should be stated that runtime is with resistor in use, you are right. Also readability needs to be increased a lot! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
