I know there is probably already a thread out there, but every search I run comes up without the topic I want.

I am looking at using a fivemega 7.2v 12AA to 3d, a single MCE, and a taskled converter.

Will a get more runtime with the led in parallel with a buck converter OR in series with a boost converter.

If you have any input or existing threads it will be greatly appreciated.

Treat this more as discussion than advice. I'm sure some experts will correct any mistakes..

I think rule of thumb is boost is less efficient than buck.
I believe you could successfully direct drive , just use a dimmer.
Depending on cells , 1.4A load (2.8A total , 1.4A each pair of 6 cells)
would not sag much, good match for the MC-E in series. I think a good PWM dimmer only circuit, rather than boost or buck can be more efficient.
