S.F. 6P w/ KL3 head...CREE upgrade?

I have a new style 6P with clickie tailcap and KL3 head for my AR in a VLTOR mount. I have read that the CREE LED's are 40% brighter and last 50% longer than these old Luxeon LED's. Does Surefire offer something that will replace my KL3 head or can my head be upgraded?

If not, I wouldn't mind a smaller / lighter package that still retains a clickie style tailcap, as long as the output is at least 65+ lumens and lasts for over 1 1/2 Hr.

Thanks!!!

SureFire doesn't offer a Cree head now, but you could put a Cree drop-in in the original 6P head. This is a very cost-effective approach -- you can get Cree drop-ins for less than $40.

I was worried that I couldn't trust an "import" drop-in. Am I wrong? What is the output & batt. life? Thanks guys.

Oh yeah, my original head is long gone too.

Look at the new Wolfeyes 3.7-6v XR-E cree

I put one in my 6Z and it is much brighter than the KL3 head which I also own. I am looking at both of them now against a wall about 25 feet away and the Wolfeyes bulb is much brighter with a larger spill area than the KL3 whose beam is very concentrated with little to no spill. My KL3 is the newest version with the concentric circles in the optic. I have the shock isolated M2 head on my old 6Z (same as the new Z2) but I'm not sure if it is needed. If you order, make sure you check the box to include the Surefire spring.

Battery life is rated at 130 minutes with regulated output, 5 hours with unregulated output. The link below is the CPF thread about this bulb.

Thanks man, going to look at the G&P tactical head and the new 6PD head if I can find one. No downside to this conversion from my KL3 expect for runtime? Is this Cree drop-in really 110 lumens brighter? Primary use is on the end of my AR.

Your not wrong! I have the Surefire L5 head at the end of my AR. I wound not trust anything else, but thats just me. When you start unleasing the fury of that masterfull machine how is that drop in gonna hold up?:xyxgun:

Thanks for the link GeorgePaul, but I'll probably try out the WolfEyes Cree drop-in. I don't want to cut any corners on my weapon light. You know...zombies and all.
