My first real light is my mte p7-c. I think that's too blue, I don't really like the reddish color of cheap compact florescent bulbs ethier though. I can't get the ssc PDFs to load on my iPhone but I read the cree PDF link. That spectral distribution chart shows the cool whites as high in blue low in red the warm white as high I'm red low in blue and the neutral white as medium in both.

If I turned the light and handheld for a minute how many lumens would then be at 1400ma 2800ma and 3800ma? Is there a efficiency point at which more current means alot more heat and little more light?

Lastly is it possible to add a protection ic to the light itself so I could use quality high capacity oem cells?

Unfortunately, No. There is not enough room in the Pill to do it.
I would essentially have to re-design a whole new driver for that.

i had a nice reply lined up for you last night. 3 paragraphs long and i lost it because "page not found" or something like that and then lost the whole post. n-e-ways, we'll see if i can help any.

2800 gives you ALMOST double the light of 1400 but not quite, making the 1400 more efficent but the 2800 still way cooler. above that, lumens doesn't rise as fast to be practical. number one, the led is less efficent at high drive currents, and number two, dont forget some batteries, even lithium, become less efficent at higher drive currents. i'd recomend the 2800mah if efficency is even slightly a concern.

to further back up my "dont buy the 3800mah" point, with pwm regulation, even on low and medium modes which wont necessarily drain the battery at unreasonable levels, it still drives the led at the unefficent rate of 900mah per led, at a super fast strobe, so fast you cant tell its a strobe, it just dims the light. at least with the 2800mah, you'll have decent efficency still with the led's just a little out of their peak efficency. (edit: only applies to the 5 mode driver, sorry)

as far as the mce vs p7, neither will show any red, so dont worry about that. mce will have better color rendition and a warmer yellower-white, whereas the p7 wont be too far off your mte but probably a touch to the white side due to the quality of the builder. have fun with whichever one your choose.

what do you mean? my strobe
works just fine with the 3800mA option

Hi,

Am I correct that option 1 with the PC LED and option 3 are going to have the same max output of 1000 lumens?

Is the main benefit to going with option 1 that there are modes and you can have the tail cap LED thing?

Can they both use the trustfire batteries you are selling or protected batteries. I have no idea what IMR means by the way.

Am I too late to order?

Greetings,

I'd like to order 3 of the following lights:

Option 2, P7 with 2800mA board $120 x 3 = $360, (includes the 2800 board?)

Also, would the 2500mA Trustfire batteries (and charger) you offer work with the above? Or do I need AW protected or IMR?

I will be sending you pre-payment via mail.

Regards,

Mark

Yes, the batts and charger i have will work.
Keep in mind that without using the mechanical 2-Mode clicky option,
those lights will get hot pretty quickly:sssh: you might want to option for
the clicky.

Yes, they are about the same.

Yes

The batteries i have work fine. And the IMR's will give you even More
output.. Although the light would get hot pretty quickly if were direct drive.
here is the info on IMR's:

Your not too late

reptiles, you stink! i think i was his biggest customer in this thread till you just blew it for me. oh well.

by the way, for the 2800mah drivers, they're a $10 each.

Hi,

I would like option 3 (P7 LED) $120 base (the 1000 lumens direct drive)

with a clicky tailcap (color black or whatever you have). I would like the first click to be low. Low is what I will use mostly. $5
2 batteries $10
I am planning on carrying this on my keychain so I think I need a lanyard. I did not see a cost for this. Is it extra?

Total $135 I will decide payment but would like you to verify that I have it correct before I mail or paypal (may need to add more for lanyard thingy).

Can I use IMR batteries if I just have it on in bursts, such as 20 seconds? And will it be brighter than the 1000 lumens? More is better.

Okay, here's to confirm my order with a paypal sent!!!! wooohoo!

P7; #1 w/3800mA, and 2x batteries.

Total: $155 + 4% fees = $161.20
Sent 11:45pm on 4/9

Maybe if we all chipped in to fly Sabrewolf to personally pick up the parts... Wait, then the mini-edc's would have to wait!!! Patience, grasshopper......... (I have to keep telling myself! Patience is not my strong suit.)
