Samich decision, just need a little clarifying

Done my best to read as many posts as I can, so I'll make this as short as possible. I have an old 2xAA minimag, that I want to make better. Ive caught the LED bug, and its time to buy christmas gift for self. I have decided that I definitely want one of dat2zip's samich's. The positive feedback throughout the site is enough for me. Just wanted to clarify a couple things before I ordered, and that I'm understanding the lingo correctly.

1. I want a regulated samich, which if I understand right means that I'll have near constant light output for the majority of the batteries life. I think that means I want a BadBoy.

2. The BadBoy 500 is "brighter" than the 400 at the sacrifice of some run time. fine by me.

3. The Badboy 500 can be run off lithium AA's for more punch, like the energizer e2 photo lithiums, I think they are 1.5v a piece just like alkalines.

4. Q3 is good, R bined are brighter/whiter sometimes? NX05 optics are good, Frean LP are better?

5. There are no preassembled BB500 modules currently available at the shoppe, and I need to be patient till a batch is made.

#2 Correct I think the BB500 is 1.5 hours & the BB400 is 2 hours
#3 Any of the Sandwiches can run off L91 Lithium AAs, alkaline, NiMh. The Lithium will be the same brightness in the BB but will have longer runtime than alkaline. The Lithium in the MM will be brighter than alkaline.
#4 Q3 is good. The "Q" refers to brightness, "R" is brighter. The "3" refers to color. The "3" should be closer to white (maybe a blue tint)& the "2" might have a yellow tint.
The Q3 is a low dome & the R2H that I have is a high dome. The NX-05 was the standard Optic for the low dome and is what you want with a Q3 or a Q2. The Fraen gives a tighter beam but only with high dome luxeons. With a high dome you can use NX-05 or Fraen. You might like the McFlood. The McFlood will work with either and you can change back and forth at will.
#5 You will probably be happy with any of the Sandwiches as long as you understand that Luxeons (especially the low domes) may have some color tint. This is clearly seen when you shine it on a white wall, but in use it doesn't seem to matter IMHO. The difference between the BB400 & the BB500 isn't as much as you might think.

Maybe you could get in touch with Wayne at the Shoppe and ask him to put one together for you with a high dome on it. I think you'll like that a lot better than a low dome. You'll get a better beam out of it.

BTW, the BB500 is just about perfect for running in a 3v light the size of the mini m@g.

dont think I'll rush it, I can wait for wayne to do a run, but Wayne if you see this, how about a run of BB500's with R binned high domes for christmas. you have at least one order waiting from me.

I'm in for one also, to be put in my Mag AA in the car, using the good old L91s.
