Hey Guys, just playing with something in my head......

I have a set of 150watt sealed KC daylighters on my truck, if anyone has ever had a set they work pretty good, but don't last long, I am on my 3rd set in a year. Anyway's, I was wondering if anyone has the dimensions off the SAMS HID? And how waterproof does the bulb/refelctor look like? I was going to take the bulb/reflector out of the SAMS housing and put them in my original KC daylighter housings. If it works I could be saving hundreds doing it this way

Any ideas or thoughts?

How have you managed to go through 3 sets of Daylighters in a year? They have a 23 year warranty! I can only hope that you are talking about the bulbs and not the whole light. I am not too sure about the Sams HID because I do not have one but off road lights are another passion of mine. Your best option for making your Daylighters HID is an HID conversion kit. They are available for good prices from BlingLights.com Or, if your Daylighters use the H3 bulb, as most KC's do, then it might be possible to just mod the reflector to accept the HID bulb. If they are the flood or long range where the bulb and reflector are the same piece, then I would recommend another platform or just an HID set of lights to work with. You could also order the H3 compatible lens assembly from KCHilites.com to fit your housing. You might want to upgrade to a better set of lights such as anything by PIAA or Hella. I have PIAA on the front, side, and rear of my truck and their quality is amazing compared to the Daylighter. Don't get me wrong, the Daylighters are great rugged lights but their design has not changed in over 20 years! PIAA and Hella are where the technology is for aftermarket lighting. Let me know what you decide to do!!
Best of luck!
Dave
