Apologies for posting this, Since you are a newbie with no track record selling something. Just wanted make you aware of some problems we have been having with newbies (under 10 posts) selling some rare lights, taking the funds and disapearing.

Welcome to cfp and we'll hold on to our wallets.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Oh great.. now we have possible spammers phishing cpf for paypal info.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Actually, it looks like a secure link to paypal to pay Botach, as opposed to one of the recent paypal scams. There's a matching post in the batteries forum, too.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Funny, there was a post over at FatWallet.com with the same exact ad yesterday. They must be making their spamming rounds on the discussion forums...

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

I believe Botach only sends this email to those on their email list. I received it on the 19th and ordered on the night of the 20th. I received shipping confirmation from PP yesterday. When clicking on the "buy now" link in the email you are taken to a secure PP form to complete the transaction. My PP email was already inserted so the Botach email must be personalized. I have ordered from Botach several times in the past two years and always been pleased with their service and prices. I emailed Botach about combining this with other items but it is set up to be a separate transaction in PP only. Usually I pay them with my MC.

Whatever the demerits of posting the ad, Botach is a reputable firm and I only receive their emails because I signed up and want to be notified of their sales, of which they seem to have quite a few.

Well thats my 2c worth anyway.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Thanks Photon for recounting your experiences. At least more recently there seems to be as much positive as negative comments on Botach. Of course, compared to some of the sponsor vendors here at CPF, that's not so good, since those vendors have overwhelmingly positive feedback, with little hiccups now and then.

When I click on the paypal link, my address is inserted as well, so that suggests it's a paypal cookie that enables the login, rather than a Botach personalization.

Well, more food for thought,

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

I have also ordered this speical from them. But it was by direct contact to my email since I have been an old customer of thieres and requested to be contacted of thier spiecals. I have had no probles with Botach and their prices are very good for lights as well.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Botach is okay to deal with if the items are in stock, but otherwise you may have severe problems (as I have). They have good prices but very poor customer service. I choose to support a CPF sponsor.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

This isn't really about their service. Why should they be able to come here and post crap like this for free, when all the other sponsers have to pay money? Things like this really **** me off, and because of it I would never buy from them no matter what their service was like. As a matter of fact, I would think a mod should delete this whole post...

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

BatteryCharger,

Its a free country, Free forum. And I will add my comment in support of Botac. They are good people, great deals for the CPF community.

Why don't you take yourself off this forum if you dont like it, you don't have to continue to read it.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

It is a free forum and this place is for individuals like you and me to sell things. Usually not looking to make a profit, just getting rid of something we don't want anymore. There is a seperate forum here for businesses. They have to pay to use it. What do you think this place would be like if they were all allowed to post here like Botac has? This is the definition of spam. Why should they be allowed to come here and make money off the forum, and not give anything to the people that pay to run the forum, while making money off of them? How is it fair to the other advertisers to let Botac come here and post crap like this (in TWO seperate forums where it doesn't belong) when they have to pay money to post ONLY in a seperate forum just for them? If I was one of the advertisers paying to advertise on this forum, I would be down right pissed.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

While I disagree with botach posting without identifying themselves correctly (if indeed that's who posted the battery deal; so far I've seen no evidence to prove this assumption), the rules were changed some time ago -- commercial announcements / sigs / etc. are now allowed, and 'sponsorship' of CPF isn't required (although it is a good idea).

I'm sure our moderators have seen the posts in question (if you disagree, hit the 'notify moderator' link in any of them), and if they violated CPF policies/rules the posts would be edited/deleted.

Personally I'd prefer to buy from those individuals & dealers that support CPF... as long as their prices are reasonably competitive.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Well said in regards to requirements to sell.

Batterycharger: Get with the program boy...get your info straight.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

drchow - what is it that I don't have "straight"? Once again I ask, how is it fair for a company to come here and advertise and make money for free, while other companies pay to support the board and advertise in an area meant for advertising? Battery station, for example, sells 123's for the same price and has as good or better service. They also pay money to support the board, AND he gives back by answering questions for people. (he's answered several of mine) Why should he pay money to the board when Botac gets to do it for free?

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

I believe drchow's point is that, while we agree it might not be 'fair', it isn't a violation of the rules (as you alleged previously).

Sponsors aren't required to contribute $$$ in order to post / sell here; banner ad's are for sale, and I'm sure everyone appreciates the businesses that purchase them & support CPF, but purchase of a banner ad isn't required.

Regarding 'why should Batterystation pay money to the board when Botac (sic) gets to do it for free' -- because that't the kind of person Kevin is, and the type of business he runs. He's not required to do so, but CHOOSES to.

'course we still haven't answered the question as to whether 'napol' is employed by / related to Botach Tactical, or is s/he just a gung-ho newbie who found a great deal & really wanted to spread it around??

Bottom line -- vote with your $$$. I do.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

Gee Guys,

Botach's record in C&J definately isn't stellar. A number of people have ordered bats. IMHO Sanyo's are good. If they get them on a timely basis and they aren't out of date, let them post on C&J! I have no doubt Botach reads these boards and realizeses they have a ways to go in the customer service dept. Time will tell! Personal attacks don't help, however tempting for those who have received less than stellar service from Botach.

Re: Sanyo 3-V ..have possible spammer phishing cpf

I agree Botach is less than stellar in customer service however you can't beat that they also offer a 20pack of AAA's and AA's for $3.00.
