saphire lens for mini mag?

OK, let's say I dropped my light and it happened to land on a pebble whose diameter is smaller than that of the window.
If the saphire window cracks/breaks/shatters, would any other window, other than a Lexan window, survive the same drop?

@McGizmo
That certainly is good to hear.
I don't know if this is off topic or not... Are your saphire lens AR coated?

No idea on how the sapphire will hold up compared to the other types of glass or crystal. I have had boro float and mineral glass windows crack on me and I think it likely that they had some chips or flaws at the edges that were the source of the failure. I have chipped carbide tools by abuse as well as accident and carbide is also brittle. On the other hand it is capable of some pretty serious duty. :shrug:

The sapphire windows I have made do have some sort of A/R coating on one side but I have no idea as to just how effective it is. I only have one sapphire lens (used in the SunDrop) and it does not have an A/R coating on it.
